Melanie Cruickshank developed DaLish Cosmetics with the intention of beautifying women in mere minutes using customizable and dual-purposed natural products that are good for skin and the environment. Since the launch of her cosmetic line, she has expanded into skincare for adults and babies. Bamboo was able to have a short beauty conversation with this eco entrepreneur:
Bamboo Magazine: Melanie, you have a love for makeup. What prompted you to make an eco-conscious line of cosmetics, skincare and
baby products?
Melanie Cruickshank: I absolutely do love makeup. I’m a die-hard [makeup] junkie through and through. That being said, I have become very conscious of the harsh chemicals in products. In all honesty, there is no need for them. They simply are just cheap fillers. I have no problem paying for high-quality products that I use on my face and lips, knowing they aren’t going to contribute to possible ill health down the road. My customers feel the same way. They’re hungry for products like mine. Many natural ingredients, such as shea butter, vitamin E and jojoba have been around a long time and work beautifully in products.
BM: DaLish is all about the five-minute face and dual usage of products. What makeup tip would you give our readers to look great in a
moment’s notice?
MC: I do love a five-minute face, and that’s what DaLish is known for. My best tip would be the [DaLish] lip/cheek balms. They come in a variety of colours and can be used for both lips and cheeks. It’s one convenient, small oval tube that works perfectly. I’ve always got at least one in every bag I own. Simply apply to lips, dab on cheeks bones, blend, and you’re ready to go with a dewy look. Two minutes. How’s that not sexy?
