Ready to Wear, a weekly column, is the go-to destination for trends and fabulous finds in the eco fashion world.

With Halloween just around the corner (a.k.a. now), you may be brainstorming for a last minute costume, and perhaps unwilling to shell out the big bucks at an actual costume store.
This is my costume from last year: pin-up vintage inspired sailor. In one simple trip to the thrift store, I was able to find a nautical bodysuit, which I cut into a crop top, paired with a basic red ribbon to make a sailor collar. There are always tons of sailor-style collared blouses and nautical pieces in thrift stores, so this costume is easy to pull together.
Some other easy ideas: witch (anything black lace, velvet or maxi), cowgirl (think bolo ties, conch belts and western shirts from the men’s aisle) or Wednesday Addams (collared shirt and black dress).
The possibilities are endless when you go with an open mind.
